Yesterday I promised to do a "Back to School Mini-Series" on this blog. You can read my introduction blog post on that, just click this: http://itstrulytiffany.blogspot.com/2011/08/summer-reading-homework-back-to-school.html
So my first blog post for this series will be about "Locker Essentials". Now, if you happen to be in elementary school... you probably won't have lockers. ): But most elementary schools supply their students with "cubbies" or desks to put stuff in. (:
In my freshman year's locker, I would almost always make a mess in it. Why does this keep happening? It's mostly because I'm always in a hurry to class. So when I needed to drop off my books, I tend to be lazy... and never put my books in the right position. Naturally, that "mess" of books would build up over the week, if I don't clean it up. And eventually, papers would start flying out of my books... It was a mess that I couldn't keep up with.
Left Picture: You'll need one of these hanging locker organizers. They are hung from the inside of your locker door. Most of these have whiteboards and mirrors. You can also put any pens, pencils, post-it notes, paper-clips, binder-clips, etc. Its a complete package! (:
Right Picture: You'll also might want to invest in some locker shelves. Different schools have different types of lockers. These shelves come in all different shapes and sizes (some are adjustable) so they can fit into your locker.
Basically those are the only two things you'll need for organization. You can always keep some extra things in there for decoration like:
- Pictures: They can be pictures of friends, family, maybe celebrities you idol. But make sure you keep to your school rules. Not many schools out there would let you use tape or glue for your locker.
- White Board: This is so you can write reminders to yourself throughout the day so you won't forget anything to bring home (or bring to school for the next day). You can also write events like this...
As you can see in this picture, the whiteboard organizer has two pockets where you can keep your phone and iPod safe from teachers throughout the day. (: |
- Emergency Items: Always keep a sweatshirt in your locker just in case it gets cold during class. And for the girls who are reading this... keep extra "personal items" in your locker (if you know what I mean). (;
- Mirror: Keep a mirror in your locker in case you'll need to touch up your hair, makeup, etc. throughout the school day.
- Magnets: Keep a supply of magnets in your locker in case you'll need to hang something up. Maybe you can hang out your "A+" you got in math up on your locker. Little things like that will motivate you to do better in school. Also, hang up your schedule during your first week of school. Keep an extra copy of your schedule in your pencil case, so you'll have that at hand... and you won't need to visit your locker every passing period to see what class you have next.
- Extra Supplies: Keep extra supplies (loose-leaf paper, graph paper, sheet protectors, pens, pencils, etc.) in your locker (maybe in a folder or a bag) in case you run out of them throughout the day.
That's pretty much all the locker essentials (that I can think of...) you'll need to keep in your locker throughout the school year. (:
