Vlog: Too Tired To Talk

Hey everyone! (:
I decided to just upload this video that I filmed today... even though I don't make any sense in it.
Going to sleep at 4 A.M. and waking up at 9 A.M. is never a good idea... ):
So, I'll try doing a better job at these videos tomorrow. And if a "Vlog" doesn't go up tomorrow, I'm really sorry.
I really need to catch up on my sleep. /:
Anyways, I hope you (somewhat) liked this "Vlog".
But before you watch it, I'm warning you... I have no idea what I'm saying.
Disclaimer: This video belongs to me. I recorded it today (8/25/2011).

Update: Vacation & Vacation Pictures

Hey everyone! Good morning! (: I'm a little stressed out today... Last night, I stayed up until 4 to help out a friend in need. </3 And I guess throughout the process, I didn't get enough sleep.
I only slept for 5 hours, because I was forced to wake up at 9. I think I have a chance of getting sick before my vacation starts... ):

Anyways, I just thought that was time to do an update post. Couple of days ago, I wrote a post on putting up vacation pictures... (;
Yup! They'll be up when I get back from it. But, it'll probably take a day or so for me to upload all the pictures and videos onto my computer.
SO... vacation pictures and all that stuff will be up on 9/7/2011!

Also, I won't be able to post on here for seven to eight days. I'll obviously be on vacation... (; When I get back, I'll try doing even more post for you all!

Okay, I think I'm done here. (:

Back to School Mini-Series: Agendas/Planners & Dealing With Homework

Good afternoon to everyone! (: This morning I woke up wondering to what topic I should do for my "Back to School Mini-Series". When school comes into my mind, usually... I would be thinking of agendas & planners. They really helped me throughout my middle school years. However during freshman year, I refused to use an agenda... which caused me to earn maybe a dozen "missing-homework-marks". It was probably best to use an agenda freshman year. But I was being lazy and thought I could use a "mental-agenda"... That wasn't the best idea. Without an agenda to guide me throughout my freshman year, I would always lose track of what to do, which lead to bad grades. So go out and buy yourself an agenda or a planner (same concept) for school... and USE IT. (; Because I guarantee that it'll help you out big time.
Homework might not be fun to do, but it increases your chances of getting better grades. So just crack down on your homework once you get home (or if you choose to snack first). Snacking before you do your homework can be beneficial. It helps you concentrate and focus more on what you're doing. Picking healthy options (like fruit) instead of junk food is also another plus. Here's a website I found that can explain more to you about "tackling" your homework: http://www.wvup.edu/academics/tips_on_homework.htm
_________________________________________________________________________
Here's a small portion of what the website said:
  • Tackle your toughest project first. If you have homework to do in Biology and Algebra, which you love, and History, which you hate, do the History homework first. Your mind will be fresher and you'll get through it quicker.
  • If you keep having the urge to get a snack, then get one together first, before you start studying. But that is the only snack you get until you're done. You'd be amazed at how much time you can waste going back and forth to the fridge.
  • Remove any other distractions. Turn off the TV; go into another room if people are talking, tell your little brother to quit banging on your door. And don't take any phone calls until you are through.
  • Try to do your homework early in the day. If you wait until just before bedtime, not only will you be rushed, but your brain will be tired out at the end of the day.
  • Finally, don't bother procrastinating. Your homework won't get done by itself, so you may as well make up your mind to sit down and do it. Once you're done, you'll be free to get on with other things.
  • Make sure you have a set place and time for doing homework. Otherwise you'll find yourself putting it off until you've run out of time.
  • Also, set aside some time for other activities. You do have time to exercise, go to a movie, or talk on the phone to your friends, so go ahead. Just don't let it take up all day.
  • If you find your books are a clutter of scribbled notes and loose pages tucked into books, take the time to organize it all. This will be time well spent, and will save you time in the long run as you won't be searching for anything.
  • Depending on what course level you are in, you may have some important exams coming up. Divide your study time up into more manageable chunks. Study for twenty minutes per day for the next couple of weeks, for example, instead of three hours a night for the last few nights before the exam.
  • If you are struggling in any subjects, see if your instructor can sit down with you and discuss what needs to be done. If you think a tutor could help you, get one.
  • Finally, if you need more motivation, talk to some other students online in a Homework and Study Tips chat room!

Breaking News: Earthquake in the East Coast

Apparently, there was an earthquake in the East Coast...

Why didn't I feel that? My grandma was sleeping on the 1st floor, while my brother and I were in the basement.

I saw a lot of Facebook and Twitter statuses about an earthquake and I got confused. So naturally, I ran upstairs to see if my grandma was okay. She told me the couch was shaking when she was sleeping. My mom called me from New York. She felt it too.

According to the internet, there was a 5.9 magnitude earthquake in Virginia & Colorado & Washington D.C. and it affected the other states around it, including New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, etc. I hope I'm getting my facts right.

I guess my first earthquake experience didn't last long, since I didn't feel it. I hope everyone out there is fine!

Back to School Mini-Series: Locker Essentials

Good afternoon everyone! (:
Yesterday I promised to do a "Back to School Mini-Series" on this blog. You can read my introduction blog post on that, just click this: http://itstrulytiffany.blogspot.com/2011/08/summer-reading-homework-back-to-school.html

So my first blog post for this series will be about "Locker Essentials". Now, if you happen to be in elementary school... you probably won't have lockers. ): But most elementary schools supply their students with "cubbies" or desks to put stuff in. (:

In my freshman year's locker, I would almost always make a mess in it. Why does this keep happening? It's mostly because I'm always in a hurry to class. So when I needed to drop off my books, I tend to be lazy... and never put my books in the right position. Naturally, that "mess" of books would build up over the week, if I don't clean it up. And eventually, papers would start flying out of my books... It was a mess that I couldn't keep up with.
This is a picture I found on the internet that somewhat resembled my freshman year's locker. Messy right?

So eventually, I stayed after school to clean it up along with my friend (we shared lockers). But it always goes back to that messy mess (I'm so good with describing things, I know...).

So this year (sophomore year), I'm planning on getting some good locker essentials so I can finally get organized with my locker.

Are you having the same problem as me? I'm guessing you would want to fix your problem as well. But first, you'll need to make sure that you have enough time to get from class to class. You'll need to be able to put your books in the proper position in your locker, so it doesn't keep getting piled up into that mess of books, paper, and maybe even your rotten tuna sandwich you left there a week ago.

Here's some things you & I might want to have in our lockers to keep it organized:

Left Picture: You'll need one of these hanging locker organizers. They are hung from the inside of your locker door. Most of these have whiteboards and mirrors. You can also put any pens, pencils, post-it notes, paper-clips, binder-clips, etc. Its a complete package! (:

Right Picture: You'll also might want to invest in some locker shelves. Different schools have different types of lockers. These shelves come in all different shapes and sizes (some are adjustable) so they can fit into your locker.

Basically those are the only two things you'll need for organization. You can always keep some extra things in there for decoration like:
  • Pictures: They can be pictures of friends, family, maybe celebrities you idol. But make sure you keep to your school rules. Not many schools out there would let you use tape or glue for your locker.
  • White Board: This is so you can write reminders to yourself throughout the day so you won't forget anything to bring home (or bring to school for the next day). You can also write events like this...
As you can see in this picture, the whiteboard organizer has two pockets where you can keep your phone and iPod safe from teachers throughout the day. (:
  • Emergency Items: Always keep a sweatshirt in your locker just in case it gets cold during class. And for the girls who are reading this... keep extra "personal items" in your locker (if you know what I mean). (;
  • Mirror: Keep a mirror in your locker in case you'll need to touch up your hair, makeup, etc. throughout the school day.
  • Magnets: Keep a supply of magnets in your locker in case you'll need to hang something up. Maybe you can hang out your "A+" you got in math up on your locker. Little things like that will motivate you to do better in school. Also, hang up your schedule during your first week of school. Keep an extra copy of your schedule in your pencil case, so you'll have that at hand... and you won't need to visit your locker every passing period to see what class you have next.
  • Extra Supplies: Keep extra supplies (loose-leaf paper, graph paper, sheet protectors, pens, pencils, etc.) in your locker (maybe in a folder or a bag) in case you run out of them throughout the day.
That's pretty much all the locker essentials (that I can think of...) you'll need to keep in your locker throughout the school year. (:

Wait... what? Oh, he's just making a spit bubble.

Tag: 15 Random Questions (Part 1)

I really enjoy doing tags. And if you don't have any idea what a tag is, it's basically just questions people "tag" you to answer. Tags let people know a lot more about you. Don't get confused with the "Facebook Picture and Status Tags". Those tags are way more different than "question tags". It's a little hard for me to explain what a it is... but you'll get the idea after this. (:

And for those who already know a thing or two about tags, here's another one out of the many tags out there. (:

This is a new tag that I made up from old tag questions I did, and liked. Also, I made some new questions as well. (:

1. What is/are your favorite kind(s) of food? I like seafood & Italian food. Especially Olive Garden's "Zuppa Toscana" soup (even though soup isn't really considered a food, because it's more of a drink).
2. Did you have any childhood cartoon crushes? And if so, who? I'm probably going to be laughed at for this... but it's Danny Fenton/Phantom & Phineas Flynn.
3. Do you like someone currently? 11 months and counting. ♥
4. What is one thing you're excited to be doing this month? Well, its August of 2011... I'm really looking forward to going on vacation with my family. (: Pictures will be up in mid-September! (:
5. What's your favorite coffee store? Gloria Jean's. I'm pretty much obsessed with their "White Chocolate Caramel (Cookie) Chiller" and their "White Vanilla Caramel Chiller". ♥ I like Starbucks too, but not as much as Gloria Jeans. (;
6. What are your top four (4) favorite grocery stores?
          - Whole Foods
          - Trader Joe's
          - Wegmans
          - Costco
7. What are your top five (5) favorite stores at your local mall?
          - Bath & Body Works
          - Apple
          - Forever 21 (XXI)
          - Yankee Candle
          - Sephora
8. Do you love reading books? If so, what genre would you prefer? I love mystery and romance books. (:
9. What's your favorite song currently? Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5
10. If you had to choose ten (10) television shows to watch for the rest of your life, what would they be?
          - Pretty Little Liars
          - Glee
          - Degrassi
          - Danny Phantom
          - The Lying Game
          - Wizards of Waverly Place
          - Make It or Break It
          - My Babysitter's a Vampire
          - Phineas and Ferb
          - Gossip Girl
11. What is your biggest fear? Insects... ):
12. Have you ever been out of your country? Yes, I visited Canada twice in my entire life. That's pretty much it. (: I'm going to the Bahamas soon though!
13. Would you prefer a iPod or a MP3? iPod.
14. Do you have any weird habits? Not that I know of... except for the fact that I'm OCD.
15. What's your favorite ice cream flavor? I have a lot. I like Cookies & Creme, Vanilla Bean, Oreo, etc.

I had a lot of fun doing this tag & answering these questions.
So, I'll be doing a lot more tags on here! (: Keep checking on that!
Plus, I tag all of you who are reading this, so you can answer these questions as well. (:

Launch: Back to School Mini Series Launches on 8/23/2011

Summer is about to come to an end soon. School starts in 2 weeks for me... As a requirement for my high school, students must complete their summer reading. It's a fairly easy summer homework assignment and it doesn't take long to finish it. However, I'm quite a procrastinator when it comes to homework, even during the school year. So I must finish this assignment before I go on vacation. "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks is my summer reading book. The picture (shown on the top right) is backwards because my webcam is silly. (; Oh, that reminds me! Vacation pictures will go up on this blog in September. I'll need to find the time to upload all those pictures. (:

Also, I'll do a mini "Back to School" series on here, even though some people have already gone back to school... /: I'm a little late, but it's okay! (: I'll try my best to catch up. This mini-series will be launching tomorrow (8/23/2011)! And throughout the school year, I'll be putting up "School Tips/Advice". You know? Kind of like... "How to Achieve Academic Success", "How to Be More Organized", and etc. So be sure to check that out as well. (: As a matter of fact, I'm learning how to do all of the above this year. Hopefully I'll succeed. But first things first... don't procrastinate. Even though I feel like a hypocrite when I say that... but it's true. Procrastinating is never good. Breaking out of that bad habit will give you much of an "accomplishment" feeling. Of course, I never felt that. ): So yes, call me a hypocrite just because I said that.

Here's a link to a site that teaches you how to stop procrastinating: http://www.positivityblog.com/index.php/2009/04/23/how-to-stop-procrastinating-7-timeless-tips/

Now I'm starting to ramble on...

Anyways, be sure to check out my new "Back to School Mini-Series" which is going to be launched tomorrow on this blog. (:

Disclaimer: "The Choice" by Nicholas Sparks Picture was mine. I took the picture on my webcam. However, the "Back to School" picture is not mine. It was found at this website: http://www.rachaelray.com/article.php?article_id=264&section=food
